How to Play

Below is an overview of the rules. See the How to Play page for the full rulebook.

Players begin by picking their hands from the cards they are dealt. Each player’s hand must be of at least a certain size, and the levels of the cards in a player’s hand must add up to a certain number. Cards with higher levels are stronger but make for a smaller hand, so players must choose wisely between hand size and strength. When all players are done with the hand-choosing process, they place their leftover cards, or counters, face-down in front of them. The player to the left of the dealer becomes the first active player.

Every turn, the active player picks one of the five colors. All other players, after hearing the active color, state out loud whether they will pass or play that turn. If a player passes, he discards a counter to the top of the deck. After running out of counters, a player must play every turn. The active player picks a hard from their hand and shows it, stating the strength in the active color. The other players who chose to play, in order, do the same. Whoever shows the card with the greatest strength in the active color places their card face-up on the table as a point. The rest of the shown cards go to the discard pile. The player to the left of the active player becomes the new active player and picks a color, beginning the next turn.

In the third round, active players roll the die to determine the active colors instead of choosing. After all three rounds have passed, the player with the most cards face-up in front of him wins the game. If there’s a tie, the tied players add up the levels of their point cards to determine the winner.
